Chad Pierce: Driven to Succeed

Horizontal Divider 1

To say Chad Pierce comes from a racing family would be an understatement.  His family eats, sleeps and breathes racing.  Barbara Pierce, Chad's mom, has compiled more wins than any other female driver in the country.  In fact, she was hired as the Pace Truck driver so the other racers would have a chance.  Chad's dad Butch, has raced on and off, but can always be found working on a racecar.

Chad started his racing career early in life.  True to the family tradition, Chad compiled 13 victories and numerous awards.  He accomplished this in just three seasons racing in the Bomber division.  In 1998 Chad took over his mom's Sportsman car and captured 35 consecutive wins in his first season.  The next season he followed up with 32 more wins and a points championship.

At age 18 Chad was hired by the Richard Petty Driving Experience as a driver/instructor.  While employed by RPDE, Chad has turned thousands of laps in a Winston Cup style stock car at the Walt Disney World Speedway and Daytona International Speedway.  He has been selected to drive at special events at tracks including Memphis Speedway and New Hampshire International Speedway.

2000 brought a new car, a new class and a new challenge.  Chad stepped into a Limited Late model and in two years claimed four wins, a Rookie of the year award and a second place finish in the points.  In 2002 Chad received the opportunity to climb into a Super Late model for the Sunbelt Series.  Despite some bad luck and missing four of the twelve events, Chad was able to finish 13th in a very tight points race.  He scored two top-5 finishes and a top-10, including a third place in the July 4th Clyde Hart Memorial 125 and an eighth place finish in his first Governor's Cup 200.

2003 and 2004 were full of opportunities for learning and experimenting.  Chad managed to score several victories in the Open Wheel Modifed class, while also running in the Limited Late Model class and even a MiniStock.  Chad was selected to test a crate motor from a "Big Name" Company.  He also worked to improve his reputation as a car builder and as "The Go-To guy" for car setup.

In late 2004, Chad received the call to start work on a new Extreme Stunt show for the Disney-MGM Studios theme park.  His driving skills were noticed and he was asked to audition.  Now Chad added "Stuntman" to his resume of skills.  Chad is entertaining thousands daily as part of the "Lights Motors Action" Stunt Crew.

For 2005, the crew once again took aim at the big guys.  A new Super Late Model had Chad in the best postion ever to make some noise.  This car, built from the frame up by Chad and the crew, led to multiple wins in just a few short weeks of racing.

2006 brought new cars, and a new Car Owner.  Gary Fountain joined forces with Chad Pierce Motorsports and the Fountain Motorsports Team was born.  Fielding cars in almost every division, Chad and the crew had their hands full building car after car (and re-building Gary's 1972 44' two car hauler), all the while chasing a Championship at Orlando Speedworld.  2007 was more of the same, but the aim was higher as Chad and the team travelled Florida competing in the Sunbelt Super Series and the Brighthouse Challenge Series, finishing 3rd in both.

After months of preparation, and years of hard work, 2008 is the year Chad will get the chance to compete in a national touring series.  Fountain Motorsports is competing in the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division; and Chad, along with teammate Blake Lehr, will test his skills against some of the best short track racers in the country.
